Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Angels of hope learning centre as a community based organization we have played a big role in Lwempwanyi, Malongo sub county, Lwengo district because the journey has been challenging but rewarding the experience to Director and the involvement of the committee has changed the lives of many poor, needy, disabled, orphans and the vulnerable children. We have an office which is not permanent because we are still renting someone’s house.

What is your project and how will it help?

We operate in the community going house to house viewing those ones with above mentioned children. The families who were on the verge of giving up on life become encouraged and energized and those who had lost hope due to the loss of their children renewed and stand up to new challenges for caring for the young children. One of the greatest transformations seen among the parents are the care and concern towards the growth and development of the children through activities such as understanding the importance of Angels of hope learning centre where children can play and learn from each other and interact together.

In addition the focus is put on the strengthening the capacity of the Grand parents to care for the vulnerable children through psychosocial support, home visits, to help children to interact with others, income generating activities (IGA), improvement for the health and hygiene support, immunization, growth monitoring for the children, nutrition support and training. All these activities are wide range for both children and guardians.

Roles and responsibilities of Angels of hope learning centre:

- Organize and train the caregivers.
- To organize trainings for parents.
- To monitor and supervise the running of the learning centre.
- Ensures that children are in the good health
- Ensures that the nutrition of children in the learning centre is ok.
- Monitor and supervise the records at the centre.
- Liaise with the government and other stakeholders on implementation of theCBO centre and policy review.
- Networking with the district officials and government concerning immunization, deworming and vitamin A supplement to children.
- Resource mobilization.
- Offer technical support towards sustainability.
- Report writing.
