Hope Children's Centre
(Verified non-profit organisation)
Hope Children’s Centre offers formal and vocational education primarily to HIV/AIDS orphaned children in Wakiso Subcounty in the Wakiso District. The Centre was established by the community at Temangalo village upon realising the growing number of helpless children left as orphans after the death of their parents from AIDS. The centre to date has a total enrollment of 609 children. These are children from poor disadvantaged families whose only meal for the day is the one they get at the centre. On the centre’s reputation and hard work in 2009 Hope Children’s Centre emerged in the FIRST position in the whole district WAKISO and the THIRD in Wakiso and Kampala Districts in the PRIMARY LEAVING EXAMINATION (P.L.E.) and this was publicised in the national newspaper THE NEW VISION of 21st January 2010.
